At the end of last year I joined a local art group, thy have interesting speaker each month.

This month we have been asked to take a long something depicting Winter.

Having tried snow dyeing I though I would take along the fabric. After some though I have decided

to use some of the fabric to make a picture.

Having got this far I now do not know whether to any more quilting or is it less is more.

                                                        What do you think ?????

What did you do on Sunday?, I did.............

The Grandchildren were due to come up for a few day as it is the schools half term holiday

Saturday I had a phone call to say that my grandson had a temperature so as to unwell.

Having got things ready and nothing planed for the next two days ,WHAT was I to do.

Having made a start on my stash and found long forgotten fabric I have made a new bag.

It is made from thick fabric so I have not added any form of wading or stiffening.I have added a zip pocket

and three other pockets to the in side. This will now go into stock ready for the summer craft fairs.

I am attending the first fair of the year  this Saturday, it was cancelled last month due to bad weather. I will be having a sale to reduce my stock of Christmas items , as I then do not have to store them.

                                              ------------------------------------------

As the grandchildren were unable to come I sent them this photo of there Den, the Snowdrops and Aconites are now open and putting on a lovely show. The leaves of the Bluebells are showing as well so thy will not be long now.I love this part of my garden in Spring.

I hope the weather will be kind to you and enjoy your week.

I am starting work on a commission to-day.

It is for a Quilo similar to one I made some years ago.

So the sorting of the stash is on hold.

I will get all the cutting done before the week-end.

Going through my stash

Having time to go through my fabric I found this. There was only a small amount so decided to make this bag for a child. Then it was back to sorting out again. I have found fabric to make samples for Norfolk Young Quilter's as well as Very small scraps. One of our charity shops will take them if in a clear plastic bag. Textile waste can then be sold by the kilo. My sewing room is no clearer so I will have to set a side time this week to try and finish it as my grandchildren are coming to stay for a few days. They sleep in my sewing room and to get the cot in my machine and table have to go away.

Once the snow had gone I went out with my camera to see what was now putting on a display.

The snowdrops are at the base of this Contorted Hazel that forms my grandchildren s Den.

Spring is on it's way but we still have snow in our weather forecast.

Well back to fabric sorting .

Do take a look at the blogs that are showing
Japan's Quilt show. There are links on the side of my blog.

Snow Dyeing

Having bought the dyes last year we had no more snow, so I was all ready this year.

We had about 4" of snow so I did everything using instructions from " The Quilter "that had first
appeared in " Contemporary Quilt" 2010.

I sprinkled powered dye on the snow.

Then left the bucket in my garage until all the snow had melted, as I did not want any mishaps in the kitchen.

The proses has taken over a week but yesterday it was finally ready.

This was the result the colours are a bit brighter than the photo.

It was fun to see the end result.

We still have snow and last night there was a heave frost.More snow due to-day but with luck next week will be better.

I am spending to-day working on some samples for the Young Quilters.

Enjoy your week end crafting.

Hear go's with a video

I hope this will work.

I have just remembered last year buying some dyes to try snow dying.

Having found them I will have a go.

First I have to make up soda and salt solutions and them get snow from a clean place.

So off to do that now.

Dresses are finished

Both the dresses are made to the same size pattern but I think the top one has turned out bigger.

The bag is an extra made from the left over fabric.I hope my granddaughter likes them.

Yesterday before the snow settled I went and spent time with M.C to work on the program for Norfolk Young Quilters. We now have a year planed. Later in the evening and over night we had about 3in of snow.
The forecast is it staying like this for the rest of the week.I am suppose to be going to a craft fair on Sunday but I think if it stays like this it will be cancelled.
I am going to try and put a video on my next blog, so by for now.

Getting the sewing machine out

Time to get the sewing machine out again.
The family have gone home and will not be back until Easter.
When we all get together for my Mother's birthday.

I do my sewing and computing in my smallest bedroom so everything has to be put away.

The fabric above is a pale green ( photo dose not do justice ) I have enough fabric to make two dresses for my granddaughter .Thy will probably get made this week end.

                                                               Sew before Snow

                          +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We have a forecast of getting snow this week end,so I thought I would take some photos of the first flowers of the year before thy get covered. I do not clear the leaves as the black birds love to turn them over to find grubs to eat.

As you can see the flower are not open yet but look good anyway.Just a bright spot at the bottom of my garden.

I will get my lunch before sewing again.

Enjoy your week end what ever you are doing.
